Jaeger Celebrates its 125th Anniversary
Jaeger is a respected, highly polished British brand that has for all its one-hundred-and-twenty-five years specialised in making clothes with natural fibres, including noble ones like alpaca, vicuna and angora. Jaeger was the first clothing company to use camel hair. Jaeger counts among its famous clients George Bernard Shaw, Vivienne Leigh, and Marilyn Monroe. Jaeger now sits at the cutting-edge of high quality manufacturing, using new machines that accurately simulate the sewing actions of human beings. Having modelled Jaeger clothing in the past; I'm very fond of their workmanship and realistic sizing system. They make clothing for real women.
Jaeger website is now offering certain clothes at 50%, 60%, and 70% discounts. Jaeger designs investment pieces, so don't let the opportunity to own classic clothing at a low price slip past you.

I give ALL my old, usable clothes to charity--but what on earth is wrong with H&M that they can't do the same?
Granted, most of their pants and skirts are the sort that don't stay up, and even their pantyhose don't come up to the waist--poor people and the homeless shouldn't be subjected to that indignity.

Here's what I do: don a pair of long Pantherella cable-knit wool socks, available for a song at Wood's of Shropshire.

If the weather is really Arctic, I'll wear a pair of 85% cotton socks under the wool ones. The best source for these is SockSAvenue of Scotland.

When I need thinner knee socks to go under my Hunter Lady N boots, I rely on those made by SockSAvenue. They have had a special antibacterial treatment, and feel heavenly-fresh under tight boots. These long socks are darling with other sorts of footwear, as well. You won't believe the low prices--and the high quality! Read all about them at the SocksFactory ebay store. They are based in Dunfermline, Scotland, one of our ancestral homes.

Classic Pencil Skirt in Salt & Pepper Tweed, by Jaeger
It has an actual waist!
And Jaeger has other sale-items:

It's refreshing to see a clothing company that hasn't abandoned the waist in favour of
the hip-hugging, belly-out, shorty-legs look!

UPDATE, October 3rd: who would have dreamt that practically the only place to find traditional pants that actually come up to the waist, as they should do to flatter the human body, would be a discount house in North Carolina?! God bless National--I have a 100% cotton flannel "granny" gown from them in green and white plaid that is a treasure. Don't need to buy trousers, because I have a few pairs that are pre-hip-hugger phase. That's the beauty of buying only classic styles--they never go out of fashion among people with good taste.
